Parco Archeologico di Selinunte
L'antica Selinunte, rappresenta uno dei siti archeologici più belli ed interessanti della Sicilia. Fondata da coloni provenienti da Megara Hyblaea, comandati dall'ecista Pammilos, nel corso del VII sec. a.C, Selinunte prese il suo nome dal Sélinon, termine con cui veniva designato l'appio, sorta di prezzemolo selvatico dall' intenso profumo quando fiorito, che cresceva abbondante nella zona. Il sélinon compare anche sulle prime monete coniate dalla città.
