"Wikitravel Extra is a place for sharing the personal side of travel meant to compliment the consensus travel guides on Wikitravel. "
1. Should be complement. 2. Some words are missing between "meant to" and "compliment"

dang
I thought this was going to be a compliment!
I'm not sure what words are missing in "meant to complement the consensus travel"... maybe it's my California/Quebec English? What sounds better to you?

Eats, shoots, and leaves
I'd just stick a comma between "travel" and "meant". Although the whole "meant" wording is a bit awkward, as if you meant to do something but it's not quite working...

How about...
"Wikitravel Extra is a place for sharing your travel stories, photos, and conversations as a way to complement the consensus travel guides on Wikitravel."

Don't know what I was thinking
It did sound awkward, but I don't know why I thought that something was missing between precisely those two words.
How about "On Wikitravel Extra, your travel stories, photos and conversations will complement the consensus travel guides on Wikitravel"

A complement
I'd like to complement Ravi on having impeccable reading and spelling skills. 8)
