Buying a laptop in Malaysia

I am going to Malaysia and I am planning to buy my next laptop there. Is it a good idea? As in, will I get a good deal compared to India? Where in KL/Langkawi should I do it?

Hmm

Malaysian prices are usually not very competitive compared to Singapore or Hong Kong, but they may still be better than in India.

In Kuala Lumpur, Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang is definitely the place to shop. Langkawi's a tax-free zone, so it might be cheaper theoretically, but I don't know of any IT malls or such there -- so it's probably best to get the PC in KL, and stick to the super-cheap tax-free beer in Langkawi.
