Great lessons in system administration

I did a "security patch" upgrade on PHP on the Crossroads box, and the interface with some other parts of the software went haywire. I managed to rebuild once I figured out what the problem was, but the site's been difficult, if not impossible, to access for the last few hours.

It should be up and ready to go, now.

But aren't security patches are supposed to break everything?

And if you think it's tough with php try supporting almost 100 windows "servers". Every single time M$ releases patches at least one of the applications breaks. We've tried to solve this problem through virtualization, but it's hard to do that for all of them at once.

Meanwhile Monit has saved my job at least 3 or 4 times that I know of. -- ~~~~

Ha

Tildes. Toto, I've got a feeling we're not on Wikitravel anymore.

..ah but I like them

I think this should go on the feature requests list. -- ~~~~ (mark)

it should be there...

I know I keep doing it too.
