EcoCamp is a different way of travelling; the best one, without any doubt; with all our senses on the preservation of the environment. The EcoCamp is placed in front of Perito Moreno Glacier, in Las Colonias peninsula, located between Roca and Rico lakes. The peninsula has this name in honour of the first inhabitants of the area. Level: Easy Takes: 3 days Trek: 3 Hs. Tentative Difference in level: 50 Mts. Season: October to April Accomodation: 2 nights in the EcoCamp (full board) Distances: Airport / El Calafate: 15 Km. EcoCamp / El Calafate: 50 Km. EcoCamp / Perito Moreno Glacier: 65 Km.

This programme allows you to visit Perito Moreno Glacier and get involve with flora and fauna.

Day 1: Transfer from the international airport to El Calafate and then to the EcoCamp, going trough the Tourist Village in the East-West, 1 hours (tentative) Depending on the time it could be possible to make a short trek in the peninsula. Night in the EcoCamp (BL,D).

Day 2: After breakfast, we go to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras through the Nacional Park, the trip takes less that 2 hours with direct view to Argentino Lake and Perito Moreno Glaciar. Once we arrive to the port, that is placed at 6 kilometres from Perito Moreno Glacier we arrive to the view point, we start with the 20 minutes sailing going trough Rico Lake with perfect view to the Canal de los Témpanos (Iceberg Chanel) and the south wall of Perito Moreno Glacier. (More) From the south margin of Rico lake, and after a 30 minutes walk we arrive to the glacier from where we star the 2 hours walk on the glacier admiring different kinds of formation under the constant monitoring of the mountain guides and experienced guides assistants. After the excursion we go to Perito Moreno‘s corridors (Pasarelas) to have a different view and then we return to the EcoCamp. (B, BL, D)

Day 3: As soon as we finish with the breakfast we start an interpretation trek of flora and fauna through the peninsula in where guanacos can be seen, foxes, ñandúes (kind of ostrich), condors, etc...This is the day in which we are going to be closer to nature since except for the family that is the owner of the land, no human could be found within four kilometres.We also will appreciate the principal wall of Perito Moreno Glacier that it is just twelve kilometres from the EcoCamp.

After the trek we will drive to el Calafate and then to the international airport (B,BL)

What you need to bring Day backpack (30-40 lts), trekking boots, waterproof parka & pants, inner isolating layer (fleece or wool), changes of clothes, sun hat, sun screen, hiking socks, sandals (for after hikes), bathing suit, sunglasses trekking poles (optional), long underwear, extra change of socks, flashlight/headlamp extra insulating layer (fleece, wool, or expedition weight long underwear).
