My amazing experience in Colombia
I have just got back from a really incredible holiday in the most unlikely of places - Colombia, South America. My friend recommended that i try it as i am quite adventurous anyway and they recommended a very good travel company to arrange everything for me and they were excellent. I arrived in Bogota, the capital and a rep of the company Another World in Tourism met me at the airport and took me to my hotel. Something that helped me enjoy my time in Colombia to the full was that the rep gave me a mobile phone which i kept with me until i went back to the UK and that made me feel alot more comfortable to have contact with Another World (their email address is; http://www.anotherworlduk.com ). In the end, i only used it to organise a few tours to the islands and the mud volcano.
While in Bogota i stayed in a really nice hotel called Art Suites that has each room designed by a different Colombian artist. I then flew to Cartagena which is the most beautiful Caribbean city that is surrounded by huge 17th century defensive walls that protected against pirate attacks. There is also a Castle there called San Felipe and walking around its cobbled streets and brightly-coloured buildings, you feel like you've gone back in time. It was amazing. I stayed in a posh Boutique Hotel that was like out of a film and met a dutch couple there who were there for the 2nd time since they got married there. During my time on the coast, i also visited the Rosario Islands and did some snorkelling which was out of this world. I didn't realise Colombia has such fabulous coral reefs. I then went to the Totumo mud volcano and jumped in which was incredible feeling the mud supporting your body. It was a really wild experience.
I am now a salsa and vallenato dance addict thanks to my rep Carolina who took me and a few others out one night to some of Cartagena's nightclubs. Thanks Carolina. I can't wait to go to another place in Colombia some other time. I'm glad i discovered this little gem.
I do highly recommend the travel company that i booked with. They were impeccable; http://www.anotherworlduk.com
