Share your travel calendar

I was playing around with Google calendar and I had this bright idea of creating a public "travel calendar" and sharing it with everyone, so that friends can find out where I am at any point in time (If I want to disclose it) and ping me if they want to meet me. Then I thought "Wouldn't it be cool if I could upload the ical file to Crossroads, so that it would be searchable by, say location?" People can find out if other crossroadsters will be at the place they are visiting. Then it occurred to me that the whole thing could be two-way, i.e. you could create your travel plan on Crossroads and publish it as a calendar, and get the advantage of the network effect. I am sure there is some such feature thought of already, but if it isn't, this is an idea...

Nice

This has been on the todo list and I took some time tonight to look at the Drupal Events API so I think it's also very doable. It would be great to both allow folks to maintain a calendar here and import/syndicate information from ical feeds (like Google Calendar provides) as well as "current location/status" reports from twitter and others...

It's always good to hear what features are most interesting/useful. I'll bump it up the list.

Thanks, Maj
